Furniture taken out of context can be misleading – sure, it looks great in the pictures but what will it do for (or to) an actual living space in a real room of your home? These sizable shelving units are as much about making space as they are about storing books and other odds and ends. Most importantly, they are shown in creative interior design contexts rathre than posed against blank white backgrounds.
If, on the contrary, a light and faded decor is not your style, then use bold elements in your decor. Combine turquoise with other vibrant colors such as purple or orange and also add a few darker elements such as some dark brown accents.
You can also use blue for the rug or carpet and for other items as well such as the lamps, the decorative pillows or even the furniture itself. Blue is a color that looks absolutely wonderful when combined with brown and beige. The atmosphere becomes so inviting and calm that you’ll want to spend the whole day in the living room.
This is another rather small living room with an interior based on strong and striking contrasts. Pattern also plays an important role in this case and was used to create focal points throughout the room. The wooden staircase adds color but it also maintains the simplicity of the decor with the glass handrail.
The size of a room doesn’t always define it. For example, this living room is quite small and narrow but, by using bright colors, simple forms and delicate accessories, it became spacious and airy. The chandelier is very beautiful indeed.
