Elita Lebel. Living Room. October 15th , 2017.
As the current dictates, a modern living room is characterized by simplicity and minimalism. The furniture has clean lines and there are no unnecessary details or decorations. The accent falls on practicality, functionality and the ability to save space and create an airy and spacious decor. Of course, they can also feature accent elements that are characteristic to other styles. In this case they are used as focal point and they don’t define the living room as a whole.
A tan couch offers you two options: either select a red shade and give the room a bold look or go with a contrasting color for a contemporary look. Turquoise, emerald green, lime yellow or purple are great options.
Here we have a multitude of contrasts, from the white and black juxtaposition to the contrast of textures, shades and type of color. The fireplace unit starts of contrast of brown shades and delimitates the cold vs. warm colors used for the artwork.
You can maintain the simplicity of your living room and still find a way to add color by introducing accent pieces. They can take the form of furniture or decorations such as the pillows or the rug.
In a room filled with mostly wooden furniture it can be difficult to find the perfect color for the walls. But in this case you should also consider using complementary colors and blue would make a great choice. You can use blue for the drapes, maybe in combination with other colors such as grey or beige which are neutral tones and would not interfere with the accent color.
